We’re not the only ones in raptures over New York-based sister duo Laila and Nadia Gohar’s particular, peculiar brand of retro – 

 recently collaborated with the pair on a range of designs including a ricotta-shaped candle and beaded bracelets for your glasses. How much is too much, you ask? No such thing.

’s OTT tablescapes live rent-free in our mind. Selling prettily patterned linens to some of the finest crockery and cutlery we’ve seen, this company knows a thing or two about maximalist mix-and-match. As well as providing near ceaseless inspiration, its website offers visitors a chance to shop whole looks, buy individual pieces or – in a splendidly 21st-century twist – rent the lot, as is all the rage.

On the subject of not buying new… We’re consistently delighted by the array of second-hand tablewares on offer at 

. The brainchild of Dervla O’Shea, an interiors obsessive and sometime stylist, who spends every moment she’s not working in her marketing job sourcing offbeat one-offs for her online shop.

And boy are they good. Dervla’s strong suit is her eye for coloured glass – from frilled dishes to stemware in jolly jewel-like hues – but she stocks good china finds too, like this bundle of joy: an asparagus butter dish, which is vintage Bordallo Pinheiro.

’s new ‘Tutti Frutti’ collection – quite literally, for we can’t think of a more cheering receptacle for our Friday night G&T than one of its hand-blown tumblers. Lettered with blithe phrases such as ‘Bonne Chance’, ‘Porte Bonheur’ and ‘Mon Amour’, these gorgeous glasses join a jug and a jam jar jollied by Murano-glass banana trees, and decorative glass balls, like summery baubles. Also filled with hand-blown fruit, they might just be the pick of the bunch – though we’re also rather taken by the rattan baskets and bottle holders too...

Conceived by Dior Maison’s artistic director, Cordelia de Castellane, the line is an ode to the sunnier months, full of 

 and oozing Parisian chicness. J’adore.

While we’re on the high-fashion hype, we’re utterly entranced by Etro’s new tablecloth for 

, the maximalist’s magazine and top shop for tabletop cops. Casa Cabana is the brand’s sumptuous store, selling the stuff of every tablescaper’s dreams and collaborating on collections with both the established (Schumacher, Richard Ginori, The Invisible Collection) and the more unexpected (Rose, Marchioness of Cholmondeley and the châtelaine of Houghton Hall, for instance).

Etro’s ‘Alpina’ design combines a mishmash of paisleys with a black, yellow and white checked border in a clash of tablecloth titans. It hits the high notes that vintage Etro is known and loved for. We’ll be pairing it with the complementary napkins, natch (and all the other treats to be found in Casa Cabana’s virtual cupboards to boot).
